Love…more than a good feeling. The Lord has laid it on my heart to share about His love for you these next couple of weeks. He confirmed in a prayer gathering I had went to recently. Prayer is sooo powerful!
This is what He showed me to share, I pray that it blesses you as it did me.
The Outworking of love
16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
I John 3:16-18
Throughout the bible we are reminded of God’s love for us and the proof of God’s boundless love is that Christ died for us. Love is not simply made to make us feel good–rather to motivate us to respond in ways that make us emulate the goodness. Love sometimes demands that we act in very practical and even uncomfortable ways.
Love is not optional, we are commanded love one another.
Love is demonstrative , our love for God is shown to the degree we show love to others.
Love is active, an act of the will. We are commanded to do the acts of love. If we shut our eyes to the needs of others, our love for God is called into question.
Love is responsive, we are able to love because we have been and are loved by God. this love causes us to respond lovingly to others.
The world makes love out to be something that is a feeling. In the scriptures we are shown what true love is–scrafical love, agape love. Jesus showed His true love for us. By dieing on the cross for our sins. He laid down His life for me and for You. He commands us to love, this can sometimes be difficult. But if we show others what He has done for us we can do it in His strength. If we are keeping record of each others shortcomings then are you emulating God’s love?
God doesn’t keep record of our short comings, He says that He will forgive us of our sins as far as the east is from the west. This is an example of His love toward us and of what we need to do.
We love Him because He first loved us.
He first loved us, and when we experience His love toward us it draws us to Him and how could you not love Him. It blows my mind to think of How much He loves me and you. If he cares so much for the sparrows, the birds of the air, how much more does He care for us. There have been so many blessings that I have encountered and was blessed to see of how much He loves us. God desires us to follow hard after Him. Show Gods love today! Know that He loves you and that is enough for me to emulate His love to others.
In God’s love,
