Cheers to 2012!!

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulations; but be of good CHEER, I have overcome the world. ”

John 16:33 NKJV
Being of good cheer is the only cheering I will be doing for 2012. As we embark into 2012 we need to be of good cheer because Jesus has overcome the world, we need to find peace in that with this new year. Already this year has started with lose, tribulations, and physical infirmites. I love how Jesus encourages us to be of good cheer. Rejoice always again I say rejoice {Phillipians 4:4}  What I will be taking with me into this new year is the lessons I have learned from last year. What are things that I can do better and to  remember all the blessing that the Lord has bestowed on us {Phil 4:8}, prioritizing my time better.I will not dwell on the shoulda, coulda, wouldas or the bad things. I want to set apart more time to spend with the Lord and to baski in His Glory. Purging all things that are stealing my time away from Him. And prayfully ask the Lord to search my heart…..

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23-24
Last New Years I had been praying about an alternative to a resolution and putting the focus on the Lord and my walk and not my personal goals. I came across a sister in the Lords website Woman Living Well who encouraged me to pray over a theme word and verse for the year. You can check out that post here. So this year…I’ve been praying and the Lord has brought me to the word………drum roll please…lol………….
My word the Lord has giving me for 2012 is: “ABIDE”

My fruits of the Spirit word for the year: “Self-control” {this is a struggle for myself and am prayfully going to practice and put this into action, more this year.

My verse the Lord has giving me for 2012 is:
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
This is something that I want to do more of, to dwell in His secret place, under the shadow of the Almighty.

At the end of 2010, I had been praying about an alternative to a resolution, as I mentioned above.  I was doing a December Peace Challenge over at Woman Living Well go check it out here. She encouraged us to pray about a theme word and I had already been praying about something similar so it was a confirmation and guide for me. And this year I am doing the same thing but also adding a fruit of the Spirit word that I can prayerfully work on this year, through the Lords strength of course. A close friend of mine and a Pastor had mentioned this and I prayed about it and I have been lead to do it.

I encourage you to pray about it and see if this something the Lord may have you do this year. An alternative to making the usual resolutions of “losing weight”, how bout losing fleshly weight instead of physical weight. Be renewed by the Lord this year. His mercies and grace are new every morning. It doesn’t just have to be every begining of the year, it’s a daily renewing.

If you feel lead share what your theme word for the year is. Leave a comment.

God Bless you,
